Celebrating 40 Years of Impact

Cherokee Family Violence Center Celebrates 40 Years of Supporting Domestic Violence Survivors

There are moments when you can feel the weight of something bigger than a single event. Cherokee Family Violence Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration at the Rocky’s Lake Estate was one of those moments. It was a chance to pause and recognize forty years of service, advocacy, and lives changed. It was also a reminder that this work is still very much needed.

A Night to Reflect and Recognize

Walking into the room that evening, I kept thinking about what those forty years really represent. Not just time, but people. Survivors who made the decision to seek safety. Advocates who showed up day after day. A community that chose to stand with them.

To everyone who made the evening possible, thank you. To our sponsors, your investment in this mission allows us to do more than host an event. You help sustain services that people rely on in some of the hardest moments of their lives. To those who purchased tickets and filled tables, you brought energy, support, and a sense of shared purpose into the room. It did not go unnoticed.

The People Behind Cherokee Family Violence Center’s Mission

It also meant a great deal to have survivors in attendance. That kind of presence is powerful. It is a reminder of why this work matters and what is possible when support, safety, and advocacy come together at the right time.

There were moments throughout the night that will stay with me. Conversations that felt honest and real. A room full of people who understood, even in different ways, why this mission matters.

And yes, the lavender palomas from Luna del Rio were the belle of the ball. They were a small detail, but one that brought a sense of warmth and celebration to the evening. It is often those thoughtful touches that help create space for connection.

Capturing the Moment

We are excited to share a photo gallery from the event so you can see those moments for yourself. The smiles, the conversations, the quiet exchanges. They tell a story that is hard to fully capture in words.

Alongside the celebration, we shared our impact video. It highlighted what many of us know but do not always see all at once. The number of lives touched through emergency shelter, legal advocacy, crisis intervention, and ongoing support. The work is complex. It is not always visible. But it is happening every single day.

Domestic Violence Support Continues

That is the part I keep coming back to. The celebration marked forty years, but the need did not stop when the evening ended. Every day, someone in our community is making the decision to reach out for help. Every day, our team is working to make sure there is a response. A safe place. A plan forward.

Attendees the event have already shown that you care about this work. If you have watched the videos or followed along, you are part of this story too. The next step is making sure that this work can continue without interruption.

Donations are what allow us to keep our doors open and our services accessible. They make it possible for someone to find safety in the middle of the night. They ensure that legal advocacy is available when it is needed most. They support the long process of rebuilding after crisis.

There is no way to separate the impact from the support behind it. To see what your contributions to CFVC support view THIS VIDEO.

If you are in a position to give, I encourage you to do so. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a role in making sure that help is there when it is needed. It is a direct investment in safety, stability, and the belief that people deserve to live free from violence.
